Dr. Michael Jones

Founder and Collective Creator

Dr. Michael Jones is a counselor educator, researcher, and national voice on AI ethics and telemental health in counseling. A tenured Professor of Counseling with two decades of clinical experience, he founded the Counselor Education Collective to give counselors continuing education worth their time: ethics-centered, culturally responsive, and built by clinicians who still teach every week. Continuing education through the Collective is provided by Renewed Vision Counseling Services, an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP No. 6549). Its flagship AI Care Ethics Certificate is one of the first AI ethics certificates developed for counselors in the United States.

Board Certified in Telemental Health since 2014, Dr. Jones authored the CCE-approved BC-TMH training curriculum that has prepared more than 10,000 clinicians to deliver ethical, competent care through technology. He is a past president of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) and the Arkansas Counseling Association, has served on the ACA Ethics Committee, and is co-editor of Mental Health and the Black Man: A Mixtape Experience of Hardship and Harmony. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University, an Ed.S. in Professional Counseling from Harding University, an M.A. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary, and a B.S. in Child and Family Studies from Freed-Hardeman University.

Beyond the Collective, Dr. Jones speaks and consults nationally on AI ethics, telemental health, clinical supervision, and Black mental health. Explore his speaking, research, and consulting work at michaeljonesphd.com.
